Located in the center of Catania, the Monastery hosts the Department of Humanities (DISUM) of the University of Catania. The monument is one of the largest Monasteries in Europe and a unique place that speaks about the human and historic events of the city on the slope at the foot of Etna, from the ancient times until today.

How to get form the airport to the city center?

Directly from the Catania Fontanarossa Airport it is possible to reach the city center as follow:

Private Transfer: book a taxi in advance or find one available at the airport (rate to the city center with a smooth traffic 30€, up to 36€);
Uber;
Bus: ALIBUS (4€), large blue/pink buses just next to the airport, operating from 4 am to 12am, run every half hour, tickets can be bought directly on the bus using cash or card;
Train: the train station (5 am - 11 pm) is 13 minutes (950m) afoot from the airport. Tickets to the central station (2.20€) and time schedule can be verified on their website (https://www.trenitalia.com/).

Central Station → City Center: subway to “Stesicoro” stop (6 am - 10 pm), next to the station, tickets (1€) can be bought directly there using cash or credit.

City Center → Monastero dei Benedettini: can be easily reached afoot (aprox. 10-15 min.), since it’s very close to the center, with the help of “Google Maps”.
